Hmmmm, I think i want a 480....

ATI Drivers.

Hmm.

Way back in the day it was hard to find a good set for my 9800 AGP card.

Then I heard, in 2006, they did write one good set of drivers, which lasted a month I believe, a landmark.

Things ain't changed then.

Not much choice atm then, really, loud and noisy or crap drivers.

I'll stay as I am for now :)

BUT!

I know it ain't all bad, I'm being cynical ;)

Ok, small update.....

Basically i've RMA'ed the card to OcUK.

Its not faulty, but when i received it the packaging was, how shall i say? Poor. It came in a thin (single) layer of bubble wrap and in a DPD flyer (plastic bag) and thats it, not in a box and with sod all packing material.

Since i got it its been running fine, but i complained to OcUK who said i could RMA if i was not happy.

So considering it was £350, and i cant be sure just how well (or not) it was handled during transit i decided to take them up on it and did just that....

I sent it back today, they are going to refund me and i'll reorder one next week after the bank hols.

It is a shame about the packing but i feel better for returning it as the possibility of any damage that it may have received was playing on my mind.

So i guess i can praise OcUK for the after sales service, but its something that i shouldn't have had to do in the first place.

An odd twist to the tale indeed.

But I agree that for that money, not worth gambling.

I've never had a problem with OCUK's packaging, that was a bit of bad luck if you ask me.

Good luck with the replacement.

Exactly, If it died XX months later i'd be rather annoyed with myself that i hadn't followed my gut instinct and done something about it...

I nearly didn't even install it, as i was going to send it back on principle, but i guess the whole 'new toy syndrome' kicked in.

I just didn't feel comfortable not doing anything about it so after giving the box another look over i noticed that one of the corners of the box had been squashed, as if it may have been dropped and landed on it, or it had taken an impact or something.... That made my mind up, and i decided to RMA it.

Like you that is the first time that i have ever had anything packed so badly, from anywhere not just OcUK, and i hope it is/was a once off. It will make me think a second longer next time i order from them though.

So here it is... New 480 after the RMA of the MSI version. This one is an Asus and imo it looks better with the carbon look going on... :)

Fancy Card you got there!
Do you play any games that warrant that much power? ;)

Yes, try playing Mafia II @ 1920x1200 everything at max and with physx on also. ;)

BC2 @ 32xCSAA at max settings at that res with >70fps is also great! :D

Do i need it? Do i want it is the question you must ask. :D
