I have DSL through Verizon. I had problems when I hooked up the connection
because the computer wasnt detecting the modem and I had to call them and
they fixed the problem and can connect fine. I only started having this
problem in May and had had the internet service for at least 6 months. I do
not recall anything that started it. I have no viruses and I have a registry
repairt showing everything is in order. I just dont know what else I can do.

I also got an error when trying to connect my MSMessenger to the internet.
It says:
"We were unable to sign you into Windows Live Messenger at this time.
Please try again later.
Windows Live messenger has made several failed attempts to sign you in.
Your firewall may be blocking Windows Live Messenger from connecting to the
service. Please review you firewall settings. See the retailer's
intructions for more information.
Error code: 80072efd"

If you are ysing a thirs-party firewall, uninstall it and turn on the
Windows Firewall.

I only have Windows Firewall as far as I can tell. I need to know how to
uninstall it and to reinstall because It does not allow me to turn it off
once it is turned on and I can no longer fix which programs are allowed or
not. That has been deleted from my computer. I dont even have a firewall
icon in the control panel. Do you know how to reinstall the Security suite?
