Mabe ya can BS to them and score good. One of my instructors taught us how to BS and make it sound good.

ok, i can actually buy the parts and build it myself if i want in school, then take it home at the end of course. What about the original specs, i'm now after,

  1. Mobo with 4 ram slots, that alllow dual channel, allow me 2 buy 2x512 sticks now, then another 2 when i have the money
  2. 300gb sata hdd
  3. thinking of athlon 64 3500+ ???? supposed 2 be good

the school will buy it and give it to you ?

well in that case what budget have they set ?

Sorry, i didnt make it clear, they will let me use my own components, and my limit is to be as low as possible, but i want a pretty good computer out of it, maybe 400-600, no monitor needed

so you take the stuff in and they'll help you build it, cool

i take it gaming is going to be its main use but you still want some processing power for other tasks

ok so im thinking

Asus A8N-SLi SE ~£85

Athlon 64 3200 ~£120

1GB of Geil or Corsair value £60

Leadtex 6600GT 128MB version £100

250GB samsung SATA-II HD ~£80

Antec sonata II case and PSU ~£80

DVDRW of your choice ~£30

copy of XP home ~£60

thats about £615

Ok, sod the graphics card, i will buy one later, just need to concentrate on the core, a 300gb hard drive is a must, dont ask, likewise is the mobo and ram, anything lower in the 400-500?

so do you want integrated graphics or are you going to reuse you old one ? because that motherboard doesn't have integrated graphics

Crap, maybe a very cheap, VERY cheap, basic one that will let me install everthing and play the basic games an integrated one can?
