Re: "Like I suggested, if the latest ATI driver doesn't fix it, try
Powerstrip. You can make a 'custom resolution' with that utility."
While trying Powerstrip is good advice, in this case the display card
probably really doesn't support a resolution that high .... that modern
display may well have more pixels on it's screen than the largest
display that existed when the AIW 8500 hardware was designed.
Are you REALLY that stupid, or are you just playing at it?
1280x1024 is MORE pixels than 1440x900 (1.2 megs vs 1.3megs),
and only slightly less than 1440x1050 (1.5 megs).
The Radeon AIW 8500 has 128 megs of ram on it,
which can EASILY do those resolutions and higher, IF it is properly
informed what is needed. I KNOW this because I HAVE that card in
one of my systems!
In fact, if you'd taken the time to CHECK, you'd have found this
on the ATI site (under discontinued products)
2D/3D display modes1:
Resolutions, colors and refresh rates (Hz) in 256, 65K or 16.7M colors:
Monitor Resolution Hz
Resolution Refresh rate
640x480 200
800x600 200
1024x768 200
1152x864 100
1280x1024 200
1600x1200 120
1920x1080 120
1920x1200 100
1920x1440 90
2048x1536 85
ATI just didn't include widescreen settings by default,
because there weren't any consumer widescreen displays then!
