There is a tick box in the MBM config to use the smart temp from
the hard drives in the General tab of settings, right down the bottom.
Once that is ticked, MBM has to be restarted before that tick takes
effect. Once you have restarted MBM, the hard drives that have
SMART temp are available in the list of sensors you can select
from with the temperature sensors.
Its covered in the MBM help.
My HDs support SMART, but I can't figure which sensor
to associate with which on the Settings of MBM.
But I am getting the temps using the other programs.
I'm just trying to get MBM to work now.

A little more to the ongoing stroy...
Fearing the collapses of the C drive, I tried to get the
DVD writer working (It's been down for a couple of
months; It writes to CDs but not DVDs) to backup.
The After Dawn forums have a group on Nero
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/1/240783 .
They suggested deleting the NVIDIA nforce IDE controller.
I did, and Windows installed three controllers in its place
Primary IDE Channel
Secondary IDE Channel
Stamdard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller
All of which claim to be "working properly".
The DVD writer still doesn't write, but now SIGuardian reports the
names of the HDs correctly. The C drive doesn't look so good:

So now I'm using Ghost 2003 to clone the C drive
to another, one that I previously used for movies.
Ghost froze at 25%. I restarted and it went through a
long process of repairing. Windows is back up now, the
cloning failed, of course, and I'm going to try again.

An oddity about the temperatures:
When the drives heated up (after I had something to read the
temperature), they _all_ did it, and they didn't reach a critical point.
Regarding the DVD/CD drive...
Do you think I should reinstall the NVIDIA controller(s)? I
would think that would be preferable because it's specialized.
The alternative is the Windows controllers that are now doing the job.
You suspect a hardware problem with the DVD writer. It might even
still be under warrantee. I'll have to look. The people at AfterDawn
http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/2/240783 have abandoned
my thread; maybe they don't have any more suggestions.
Back to the HD problem:
If the C drive is to sick to clone,
My other option is to fresh install Windows on a blank HD, which would
be my 160 GB H drive. Then I'd have to reinstall all the programs,
etc, but at least then I'd be able to move up to XP's SP2. (not
that I think it's necessary, though). I gave up on doing that on C
after I spending about a month and a half on it. However, I'm sure
SP2 would install on a fresh XP install.
You know... maybe I'm going to do that. I'll partition off a section
for Linux, which I've always wanted to try, and I'll make a duel boot
system. Can I have FAT on one partition and NTFS on another
of the same physical drive?

what file system should I use for the Linux partition?
I'll use NTFS for the Windows XP partition,
and I thought that wouldn't work for Linux.
I thought Linux supported FAT.
