Generic Host Process / svchost

Wishful thinking... The error is extremely rare, but still occurs with
887742 update installed. I hadn't seen the error in about 2 weeks and just
saw a machine throw the error up today. I wish I knew which update is
causing this stupid error. It's security update released in feb. causing
this, but which one, I don't know. They released 4 or 5 all at once. The
error actually occurs during shutdown and windows throws a dumprep in the
"run" registry.

Microsoft Please help!!!!

:)

Hi,

When? Read:

Then come back and create a new post, including a descriptive subject line
and appropriate content in the message text area. Also, please don't tie
into an existing thread with a new problem. We will try as best we can to
help you, but first you must help us in understanding what the problem is.
If I tell you "My car won't run" and ask you to tell me what's wrong based
on that alone, could you?

Microsoft yesterday released a fix for the generic host process
appeared with february win updates.

Install this update to address an issue that may cause a "Generic
Host Process" error message to be displayed after you install
security update MS05-012, or cause attachment file names not to be
displayed in Rich Text e-mail messages. After you install this update,
you may have to restart your computer.

Mine had exactly the same symptoms as many, svchost.exe problems at
offset 0x00ad96bc referencing memory 0x00000000. Mine was caused by
older HP printer drivers for a network printer that was sent out with
a printer I just bought and installed. I wrestled with it forever and
finally found a clue in the knowledge base and was able to see it as a
possibility. Installing new drivers issued after SP2 fixed it.
