I was going to bring up something similar to this after this year's
list was done. I was going to suggest a "Pricelessware Hall of Fame"
where programs that have been inducted 5+ years would be added to a
special page.

The end of December will mark the 5th year anniversary of the Pricelessware
List.
At that point, the programs for 2005 will have been selected.

Seems a great time to have a Hall of Fame induction. ;)

Five year requirement and a separate page appeal to me. Program
descriptions already include the specific years included. A long line
is pretty obvious. The multi-year cumulative list Susan compiled is
also easily perused.

May we be so fortunate as to worry about medal metals in another three
or five years.

Ummmmm, what about the list for 1999? Do those entries count for this
also? If so, we may already have programs that have been listed 5
times.

The first list was made in December 1999, so really it is the list for 2000.

Programs have been added (and removed) outside of the regular year-end
balloting, either in a formal mid-year review or as circumstances merited (a
program suddenly becoming Shareware) or in a more informal manner (as when
an exceptional program for a previoulsy unrepresented category emerges, such
as was the case with Zone Alarm.)

Because the December 1999 was the first list, there should be a record of it
as it first initially was created.

In December 2004, the Pricelessware List will have been in existence 5
years, with 6 lists having been generated:
- 2000 List, voted on December 1999
- 2001 List, voted on December 2000
- 2002 List, voted on December 2001
- 2003 List, voted on December 2002
- 2004 List, voted on December 2003
- 2005 List, scheduled for an October 2004 vote

It looks excellent! Its nice to see more of a transition to lighter colored pages.

Bright white is not a nice background color, unless you turn down the
brightness control on your monitor.

This means that all other colors get darker too.
When the background, the reference level, is bright white all other
colors must be darker.

Bright white is like when a policeman shines his lamp right in your
face, or like staring into the sun. Bright white is the ultimate
brightness in the computer monitor.

There is a proxomitron filter which darkens down all bright white
backgrounds to less intensive colors.

You can also use the "zap white backgrounds" bookmarklet at this site:

http://www.squarefree.com/bookmarklets/zap.html

to change white to tan for that page viewing.

Not to rain on anybody's parade, but although the site is pretty, on a
dialup connection, it's slow.
