Gaming problems on ATI Radeon HD 3650

Yeah its compatable, as i said in my earlier post, it SHOULD run on 450W, but i don't want you to buy one as i said it should do and it doesn't.

Consider, it will use half of the PSU on its own, 225W at full load.

Is your PSU a good one? Corsair, OCZ, PC Power, Be Quiet??? If it is then 450W is continous and its true peak is more like 500W.

How old is it??? It will lose a few of its max watts, over the years.

I have run a Core 2 Duo and 8800GT setup on a 480W so it SHOULD work.

Edit: If you go for the 3870 then make sure its a GDDR4 or you might as well get a 4850 for £20 more.

I'd go straight for the 4850 and then when you upgrade the rest of the system you will have a decent card.

For power consumption try this on-line calculator.

Totally agree with Abarbarian. But for now I doubt my PSU will run the 4850 yet.

It's some stupid pathetic brand called SUMMVISION.

Whoops, PSU Calculator says I ONLY need 344W to add a ATI Radeon HD 4850 into my CURRENT system. Might think about a new graphics card for Christmas or put it on hold until I can't overclock my HD 3650 any further.

Overclock Problem

When I try to overclock the HD 3650, ATI Overdrive isn't working, when I click "Test Custom Clocks", they change to what I set it to, but once the test completes, the clocks go back to the factory clocks even though I clicked apply.
It this normal? Or does the custom clocks only take effect in games or graphics hungry applications?

I still don't understand why you don't like Nvidia, i am loyal to neither, whatever gets me the best performance for the price gets my cash.
I don't like nVidia because they crash all my older games. On both computers with nVidia, this has happened.

I have come to a conclusion with evidence that PCI-E 2.0 Graphics Cards **ARE** compatable with PCI-E 1.1

Here's why:
Hold on a minute, why didn't I think of this earlier? My Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 3650 IS a PCI-E 2.0 card!!! My motherboard works fine with the thinner 1.1 PCI-E bandwith so a HD 3870 or HD 4850 is compatable.
