I would also mention WS_FTP LE. It's not the very best FTP client, but
it is reliable, been around for a long, long time and it has a huge
user base. Getting help with it is very easy as it seems that
everybody+dog have used it at one time or another.

Good program *but* the license has *changed* and become so restrictive
that very few people are eligible to use it as Freeware:

(Liteware) (free for educational users at degree-granting institutions
for academic purposes only) (unsupported) (Registerware: name

Gee, that's too bad. I haven't used it in some time and was unaware of
the changes. Thanks for the heads-up, I may have very easily wasted a
download from tucows at some point not knowing that.

It's hard to keep up isn't it. I voted for it as PW2004. REMbranded had
posted about the license change but the info didn't sink in until after
I had voted. :( IMHO the free license is so restrictive now it amounts
to little more than a farce.

I initially tried FTP_Wanderer as it got the most votes here. Unfortunately,
whilst it connected fine to anonymous servers it couldn't connect to the one
non-anon server I wanted...Tried FileZilla and it works a treat.

Did you check the setting for passive mode on the one you couldn't get
connected to?

Assuming that that is the "PASV" mode (the only setting I could find in
FTP_Wanderer along those lines), yes I tried it but it still wouldn't work.

cheers
