Free copy of Vista and Office 2007

Hi,
I fell for something like this. Where they wanted the e-mail address in
return I would receive Quickbooks and all I'm getting is spam.

On Nov 30, 2006 a thread was posted entitled "Is this a Scam". The tread
referenced a web site http://www.powertogether.com/ . If you signed up and
watched three webcasts on Vista and Office 2007, you were entitled to a free
copy of Vista Business and/or Office 2007. I managed to sign up before all
of the free copies were spoken for.

After completion of the required webcasts, when you signed on, you were told
that you had qualified for a free copy.

The web site states that it would be 6 to 8 weeks from RTM date before the
free copies were shipped.

Has anyone who participated in this program received any other information
or their free copy yet?

Thanks,

Lee Steele

No, it wasn't. It was a legitimate offer.

6-8 weeks from RTM places individuals scheduled to recieve the offer at mid
to late March.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but according to other threads in this newsgroup,
Office 2007 went RTM on 11-7-2006 and Vista went RTM on 11-8-2006. That
would put 6-8 weeks in the current time period.

Opps, my bad. I see it does say 6-8 weeks *from RTM* So you may have it
right. Office 2007 hasn't even been RTMed yet, has it?

Hi Lee,

I could be wrong, but I think they were referring to the consumer release of
the product (general availability), not the manufacturer release (RTM). That
doesn't occur until Jan 30, 2007.

I have not received mine (or any e-mail) yet.

Wasn't RTM November 8th (7 weeks last Wednesday)?

From site:
"* Your gift will ship within 6-8 weeks after Windows Vista is released
to manufacturing."
and: "Once we’ve confirmed that you meet the eligibility requirements stated
in the offer details below we will ship your gift within 6-8 weeks of the
release to manufacturing of Windows Vista."
and: "Please allow 6 - 8 weeks for shipment of your gift(s). "

The reason you haven't received an email yet for you to complete the 1099 is
that people were given 30 days to view the videos, and so they are giving
time for this to be done--I believe.

Then "soon", you should receive the email and after that (I'm not sure how
long) the people who completed the videos should receive Office or Vista or
both.

If anyone has received an email for 1099, post up but I believe that's the
way this is unfolding.

No, you are right. It is now within the 6-8 weeks after the RTM of both
products. For some reason people are interpreting RTM as the general
availability. I'm not sure why.

That's just it. I suspect the offer really means from the general public
release of the products, not RTM. This would mean 6-8 weeks from the
previously announced Jan 30, 2007 date.

There is NO RMT for general availability. The VISTA OS has already been sent
to RTM.
There is only ONE RTM.

"* Your gift will ship within 6-8 weeks after Windows Vista is released to
manufacturing."
" ...we will ship your gift within 6-8 weeks of the release to manufacturing
of Windows Vista."

Sure sounds like it implies after Windows Vista is released to manufacturing
:)

Hi,

Yes, I know what it states. What I'm saying is that what was meant was more
likely the general public release. The OEM's aren't going to be allowed to
ship early, I somehow don't see this offer being shipped prior to the
general public release either. A poor choice of terms perhaps, but in the
past RTM also meant general public release. As we all know, they are
different this time around.
