In so much that he's trying to make you conform to the mores of these
newsgroups, yes, I think John Marshall is acting to the standards of conduct
for an MVP. I challenge you to point out one thing that John does that
contravenes the information outlined in
http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/mvpfaqs
Note that it states that "The MVP Award is the way Microsoft recognizes
those participants who have made a highly positive impact in the technical
and product communities in which they participate. Microsoft wants community
participants and leaders to know that their contributions are greatly
appreciated. The MVP Award exists as a way to reach out to and thank
outstanding members for their past participation and willingness to help
others in these communities, both online and offline." Microsoft has chosen
to recognize John multiple times. They have not chosen to recognize you.
That speaks volumes.
Steve: you know your incessant advertising not only is against the spirit of
these newsgroups, but is a major source of aggravation to many posters. Why
do you insist on pretending you're being wronged?
The fact that you deliberately remove your advertising blurb when you post
your diatribes is proof to me that you know you're in the wrong. Otherwise,
you wouldn't be afraid of potential customers seeing your behaviour.
Personally, I feel you're an embarassment to what Engineering stands for.
