Format Format Format....

Im guessing you run the recovery program from that partition, and that formats the other partition...

With your PC you should have had> 1 a floppy restore disc [red] >2 three CDs numbered 1- 2 –3. When you start to restore> turn off the PC> insert the floppy> it will then run> upon completion it will tell you to remove the floppy disc and insert disc 1 then 2 then 3. If you have no discs, which you haven’t, then you could telephone HP and explain the situation, tell them the KEY number and if you are nice:) to them they will send you a set of discs:eek: .

On the other hand you could buy an XP Disc and format the HDD with that and your troubles maybe over.:D and dont lose it :p

Good luck!

well aside from being riddled with viruses it has never failed me, over heated or anything. It does have exceedingly crap componants though, including a very noisy 250w power supply from a very obscure taiwanese manufacturer :/

oh dear im gonna muck this up :)

right. digging into my old box of stuff, i have found i dont have an xp install disk; i think it came pre installed and i just had a cd key. which i havnt found yet.

i do have a drive called hp_recovery, which i am thinking is some kind of recovery drive.

i am very perceptive like that

Before you do anything .Get some help.

If your pc is new ring the helpline but not the 0901 number.Make sure it is local.

The hp recovery disc may be a reload cd. In other words it does all the work for you.

Make sure you have a cd code before u even put in the recovery cd.

You should have a booklet about this with your pc. Unless it is second hand from a shop.

Make sure you back up any files on cd.(With a cd copyer).

Chris Postill and me_2001 are the the top dogs for PC building.. look at my rig .its their choice for my budget(except the case ..my choice):thumb:
