For those want to use 64-bit version...

I still want to know the mechanics of how to upgrade from Win 2000 to Vista
anything. It requires a clean installation. I just want to know how that
goes from the Win 2000 desktop. If upgrade is disabled in the Setup screen
(according the the upgrade matrix it must be) I must be able to do a Custom
installation right over the running Win 2000, right? Plow it right under
from its own desktop.

And if I can do a Custom installation (if upgrade is disabled, what else is
there?) I must be able to select a target drive and then it wouldn't have to
be the current system drive, right?

Are there holes in all of this or what?

Since Darrell said that you can only run the 64-bit upgrade from the
64-bit desktop and the 32-bit from the 32-bit desktop, there should
be no real confusion. It works or it tells them they have the wrong
disk.

That's the theory. I've seen people do some pretty ghastly things to their
setups before now though. It's easy to design for the best amoung your
customers. Not so easy to design for the worst.
