Seems a few people in leafy suburbia are letting off fireworks tonight with more to follow tomorrow.

Quite a few going off around here tonight too, I think we're off out on Monday night to park where we used to live 5 years ago (seems like yesterday) to see some organised ones.

Some French guys came to Manchester a few years ago and did Fireworks in time with music, they were amazing! Not seen anything close since though.

Lets hope the weekend "goes off " without major incidents. I Love this time of year but think sometimes whether we should put the clocks forward ...another story another debate..

My next door neighbour not to be out done last year decided to set off to massive marine flares.
They made one hell of a bang and as they drifted down under mini-parachutes they lit up the sky for ages.

YAY, fireworks this weekend for me. Sat night round a mates for some and sunday back to mine for more! :D

I usually get mine from this guy each year, he does some really good ones, and no far from me either.

I like big Firework displays, probably off out to Blackheath Common Saturday night to see the annual display then back to the Cutty Sark to fire rockets across the river at Canary Wharf and make them think they're under mortar attack :D (I don't buy 'em meself, but somebody else always does, oddly enough).

Tell me, why is it, and it's a strange thing, the poorer the area, the more fireworks they let off, and fireworks cost a small fortune.

Pure plebsville if you ask me, ten seconds worth of whizz bang - ooh, there goes another fifteen quid - super.

Let's put it this way - one rocket = five pints. No contest :)

This seems to be the same round here too! We used to live in between Ardwick/Rusholme/Longsight in Manchester (not the best areas) and there were loads of fireworks leading up to Bonfire night. Everyone seemed to have them (big industrial ones too)

I can't complain though, it was fun to watch ;)

Best job in the world would be a firework designer .

I'd love that job... "Add more gunpowder... a little more... just chuck in whole the box actually"

C`mon Ian and Flops the reason the poorer areas seem to have more powder is simple..

They Nick em

I found out about this through London's 95.8 Capital FM. Here is a good link for every firework lover:

I hve not chcked mine yet. lol

Not much cop that guide, it didn't even list the Blackheath Display. Maybe cos it was free.

What was the Blackheath display like?

The Alexandra Palace one is normally brilliant.

I am sure you can always get a good viewing spot at these things without paying. :)

I didn't actually go to the display this year but I've been to every display on the heath for probably around the last twenty years.

You can get a good viewing position just about anywhere around the display's perimeter.

I must admit I thought last year's display, compared to previous years, was a bit naff but friends assure me this year's was good.

I did go down the pub afterwards and together with other terribly irresponsible peers, let off lots of industrial style fireworks by the side of the Thames. I took some pix, I may post a few.

And after that went to a party locally and had a bonfire, that was good :)
