I want to like Firefox, but I still find it slower and the GUI less
configurable than IE. I could live with it if it had these two IE options:

1) the navigating click
2) Toolbar>>Mail>>Send Page

I have not found any extensions that will enable these. Does anyone have
them?

You've got to be kidding.

You seem a bit confused. The holiday is New Years Day. . .not April Fools'
Day.

Firefox is at least three times faster on my computer than IE. The only
speed advantage IE has is initial bootup, and that's because it's running
as a resident process. IE is the slowest browser I've ever used. Surely you
jest.

I don't think he's kidding.
The only thing Firefox is good for is using it as a news aggregator with the
Sage extension.

It's the best news aggregator currently available.

Slower? I don't know what's wrong with your PC but it flys on my PC
compared to IE! Do you mean slow in browsing, or starting? It will
start slower because it has to be loaded when run, whereas IE is part
of Windows and thus always ready-to-go. But browsing with FF is way
faster than IE, that's for sure.
1) the navigating click

What do you mean by that?
2) Toolbar>>Mail>>Send Page

File -> Send Link. Didn't look too hard, did you?

I am talking about rendering pages. Despite what everyone says around here,
IE is faster for me. Maybe it has something to do with the websites I visit
most often.

You click on a link, it makes a "click" sound. An advantage of being
integrated into the OS.

No, you aren't looking too hard. I didn't say Send Link, I said Send Page.
IE will send the whole web page within the e-mail message. Does Firefox do
that? The only other browser or shell I've seen do that is Avant Browser.

Well, give us an example URL so I can test for myself... :)

Ah, I see. Take a look at this extension:

http://www.extensionsmirror.nl/index.php?showtopic=387

Install the "repackaged version" at the bottom. I just tried it and
it works fine. By default, however, it enables sounds for lots of
actions (mouse over buttons, etc). So to have sounds only when you
click a link (which, in reality, is "loading" something), just open
the Extensions menu (after installation) and turn OFF every sound
in every tab, except for "content-loadstart", which is left ON.
Then you'll get a user-customisable sound whenever you click a link.
I actually quite like this now that I've tried it, so thanks! :)

Page. IE will send the whole web page within the e-mail message.

It does? Not on my IE (the latest, v6.0.2900.2180). It just sends a
link like FF does. What version of IE are you using?

Ah crap, ignore what I said -- I have egg on my face now. :)
I didn't realise that it depends on the mail client settings.
Mine is set to "Plain Text". When I set it to "HTML" and then
selected "Send page by e-mail" in IE, it worked as you said.
I apologize for the misunderstanding.

As for Firefox being able to do it, it doesn't do so natively.
Maybe there's an extension for it, I'll have a look later.

An effective way to lose friends.

Hint: many people only want plain text e-mails.

Yeah, those "clicking" noises are vital to a browser's operation.

I hope they're all people you know and that the pages you send them
are from sites that are rock-solid...even then, there's no guarantee.
If my /mother/ sends me html email, I delete it immediately. Of
course, everyone who sends me email knows enough not to send html.
IMO, the fact that Firefox (and I'm not a user) doesn't have that
"feature" is just one more reason why it beats IE.

Also an effective way to keep your parents happy, mine for instance
couldn't live without html-mail. Big questionmarks appear above their heads
when terms as "attached picture" and "clickable link" are mentioned.
BTW, email-etiquette above friendship ? Really ?

Hint for you. You have no idea what I am sending to people. Those that I
send it to want it in the e-mail body. It is not necessary for you to teach
me Netiquette. Just because I prefer IE to Firefox doesn't make me an
idiot. Try reading some other responses in this thread to learn how to be
helpful rather than smug and sarcastic.

I DO like FF and use it (including about 15 extensions making it much more
user useful than IE) but have to agree it is slower on my win2k machine. In
fact, the fastest browser for me is AvantBrowser which is built on the IE
engine but has many of the features 'out of the box' that I must extension
to get in FF. I find AB probably 2-3 times faster than FF, but I am willing
to live with the tradeoff since I can customize to my hearts content.

And you're also willing to live with the inherent security risks of IE?
