thanks

I've had problems with selections not being available, and not
sticking in the new tab extensions.xpi. I think that is an
extension problem and not a Firefox problem though,

I downloaded and installed it twice, but the address bar is inoperable. I can
type in a URL, but nothing happens when I hit Enter. It works fine when a site
is activated from my Favorites list.
I registered a bug with butzilla, but the replies haven't been helpful.

I installed from the zipfile, and it automatically imported my
settings, bookmarks and passwords from the Firebird 0.7 profile. No
problems whatsoever; it works beautifully, and my impression is that
it is about 50% faster than 0.7.

Same here.

Firefox is great, quick, love the tabs!! Is there anyway of using Download
Accelerator Plus, version 7 in lieu of the manager in Firefox which is much
slower. In the configuration options for DAP 7, it only shows integration
with Internet Explorer or Netscape. For large files, Dap is invaluable. With
my hi-speed cable internet + DAP, I often get 200-300 kbs transfer rates.
Thanks.

Download Accelerator is really an off topic (OT) subject in this newsgroup, but
to get it to work with the "Mozilla" type browsers, following these directions:

To enable integration with Firefox, copy dapop.dll from your Download
Accelerator Plus folder to your browser's plugins folder, and rename it to
npdap.dll.

NewsMonster is available as an extension and, although it works, it messes
up the browser, on my PC anyway.

Problems: the NewsMonster sidebar installed itself on the right hand side
of the page, rather than the left. This meant that it couldn't be resized
(or closed), made the panel somewhat unreadable, and messed up the toolbar,
and significantly reduced the available size of the browser window.
Problems consequent on that were that the toolbar would accept new buttons,
but they didn't work, and all the options above the toolbar became greyed
out, thus difficult to cleanly exit Firefox. Oh yes, the NewsMonster
'Options' acted erratically as a result of all this (to say the least)
making it impossible to attempt correction of these problems.

I uninstalled that extension, pronto.

Works perfectly with Mozilla 1.6, especially with adblocker and nuke
extension added, especially for use with NewsMonster.

Looks like Firefox is responsible then. Ah hum.

Cheers,

Roy

Thanks, Zo. Just out of interest why is DAP off topic in this newsgroup. It's free!! I guess it is because of the possible spyware. Whatever the reason, its usefullness, in my opinion, far outweighs these concerns.

I tried it today. It's fast. There's only one thing I don't like about it.

When you select "open link in new tab" it makes the newly opened tab the
active window, ala Netscape 7.1.

I don't like that. One of the things I liked best about Firebird was that
the current window remained active, allowing me to scan a page and open as
many tabs as I wanted, then look them over after they loaded.

Install the tabbrowser extension and go to options and "focus" and
then set it to open tabs how you want. All mine open in the
background.

Try clicking the link with the middle button instead.

Perhaps folks like donutbandit don't pay attention to what they're
doing?. firefox can open tabbed links in the background. This
behavior hasn't changed from firebird to firefox.

Tools -> Options -> Advanced
