I was wondering if the final release of VISTA will be on DVD only....
Any one has info on this?

Thansk in advance.

Packaging and distribution has not been determined yet, probably will be
announced sometime after beta 2. Actually, probably not until RTM, thats
just my guess.

From the beginning it has been only available as an .iso file\DVD image. It
is too large to fit on one CD and I have never seen it offered in a
"multiple CD" download.

No info, but since we're having to burn all our CTPs to DVD, I'm gonna guess
it'll be distributed on DVD.

windows 95 came in floppy & cd versions since then it was transition time
between the 2 mediums, meaning that not all computers had cdroms.
Same thing now.. not all computers have dvds.
It would be logical to have a multiple cd version if requested or at least a
way for a tech to construct his own spaned installation version on cds

It seems like any computer capable of running Vista adequately
would indeed have a DVD-ROM drive at least. If not, they are
very cheap to add these days.

It'll definately be on a DVD once it's been released - it certainly won't
fit on a CD and swapping CD's half way through installs always seems to
throw up one error or another.

They' ve done it before. Wouldn't be hard to break apart. They've
certainly spanned to a much greater extent when floppies ruled the world.
Common sense says they would do it because it quite simple and makes it
available to an even wider consumer base.

Unless something has changed, Microsoft has stated in the past that no
additional builds would be released to testers on a CD ISO(s). I am unable
to quote or provide links due to NDA.

I heard they were licensing STEAM in order to do it as download only!
Also it will use Starforce for copy protection.

*wonders if anyone but gamers will understand the references*
