Try looking for a Radeon 9100 64Mb or 128Mb PCI card. They're a decent
DX8.1 card....same R200 GPU as the 8500 series ( 2 textures processed per
cycle compared to 1 per cycle in the 9000/9200 series R250) They can stll
be found new some places for $59 as well as Ebay (where they go for a lot
more)

Forgot to point out that the 9100 PCI is a fair bit faster the 9200
PCI....20-25% or so.

VisionTek Xtasy 9600 (Ati chip 256 meg) for sale at $129.00

with all the tricks (in the video drivers) pulled with the PCI video cards these days an
agp 4x mainboard only runs the agp version about 15% faster.

I vote for you to purchase one of these bad boys. I purchased two. I put one is a Dell
450mhz PCI (sorry it is so old) however; the user runs URU fantastically, with no crashes
(as usual with ATI), how some ever - obviously slow. geesh - that is $129.00 for a ATI
256 megger !
I personally have a 9800pro (two each PC's) on agp 4x mainboards. Far Cry looks
phemonimal !! like you are right there at the Beach, in the real surf! ahh... that 2.0
pixel shader !!

That's a 9200SE PCI you've got posted below. Are you positive the one you looked at was a 9600? AFAIK there's no such thing.

9200 is about it.... I think the Nvidia 5200 PCI is faster thou, for
the same price.

None of them are good enough for modern games.

Oof, unwarrented political propoganda from a likely canadian or
european. I wasn't prepared for that. Though I have heard that the
9200/9100 IS slower then the FX5200. I bemoan the lack of an AGP slot.
It comes down to a FX5200 256mb or a Radeon 9100 128mb. Thanks to
everyone on this board though. you've helped me narrow it down to two.
Now which one is better ?

hussain from power in the first place... "We can't let America Remove

No, AntiSam. Seems more likely to me that seeing as i'm the
"stranger", I'm not allowed to have an opinion. Let alone one that you
don't like. Amazing how the internet Empowers small people like you

All I ever wanted was to find out the right PCI card to buy. I guess
it's MY BAD if I don't like recieving a political propoganda message

And once again, thanks to ALL of you who are genuinely here to give
computer advice, minus the political advice. I'll be enjoying my
radeon 9100 PCI as much as I possibly can, given it's limited
capabilities. Crappy mobo's DO hold you back. Though I have found a
rather fondness for upgrading older pc's. It's almost as fun as
constructing a brand new home built pc.

Let's see. Darthy add the sig which you Can't tell me isn't designed
as a FLAME-BAIT. It's purpose is to cause a reaction. That's troll
behavior to me.
I reacted in an OK manner. Then Soldier, spying an opening, baited me
with an insult hoping for a reaction. Once again, trollish behavior. I
reacted badly in the first paragraph, but tried to recoup in the
second paragraph. You, now, disagreeing with my opinion, but agreeing
POlitically with the other two, see me as the only troll here. This
doesn't suprise me. You may or may not be a troll, but darthy and
soldier seemed to be from my pov. I hope you can begin to see things
from my pov a little better now. I came here only wanting computer
