It's the ATI design.

The ATI heatsink has the same "problem". Which isn't a problem.

I'm using the ZM80A-HP. I beleive there is a C, not sure of the difference.

The C is 325g, the A 400g. The C has some kit to stop the two sinks from
twisting and allows a silent fan to be mounted (ZXM-OP1) and apparently is
recommended for the 9800 Pro. Oh well... mines fine. Oh and the A is a
better colour :-)
