6. Now when you need to "quick save" just press the ~ key and
hold down CONTROL and press the "V" key, then release both keys and
press ENTER.
It's a kludge, I know, but beats nothing.

This is quickly becoming an amazing game, although I still wonder why I die
whenever I wade too far from the objective (such as wading into the water).
Is this normal?

Yes, as soon as you get creative and try to take a route the
developers don't want you to take, a helicopter turns up and kills
you. It took a lot of the fun out of the game for me, and turns a
potentially interesting game into another linear kill fest.
