I'm at my wit's end ..I've got SmartBoard3 (registered) and it is so
flakey I've got to uninstall it ! drat. I need an app similar to
ClipMate .. just a simple app that does what WIN Clipboard does except I
need somethng to hold MORe than just one item at a time ..
I've looked at about 10 of them and they are all way too
'fancy' and have unneeded stuff and the only good one I saw was ClipMate
and it's about $25 @! I'm in for $20 already for the Flakey (Freezes my
sys all the time and I have to CAD out) .. any help sure
appreciated !

Don't know if its what you want, but ArsClip can hold way more than one
clipboard item I have it set to hold 15 items.

Have a look at http://jackass.arsware.org/ac.php

Try "Fetch" from http://www.hitekdesign.com It took me a long time to
find clipboard software this simple but at the same time indispensable
!

There's an almost forgotten tool on the Windows
95 CD called Clipbook (Cliptray in 98?) that keeps copies of both text
and graphics clipboard clips.
Clipbook.exe: is a simple utility that allows you to save and recall
several pages or graphics. It can be used as a replacement for the
Windows Clipboard, which can save and recall only one file or graphic.

Found some other info on http://www.thelaughin.com/tips03.1.htm under
the heading "Document Clip Tray"

Mike Lin of Xnews fame has one, I disremember the name, but I think his url
is mlin.net or something. Mike writes some pretty tight code so should be
small and not that fancy. I use Yankee Clipper myself mentioned before, but
I really like the one called Ars-ware or something like that. ;) I'll have
to try that baby.

Of Xnews fame? What does he have to do with Xnews?

Right, sorry...that's Luu Tran; getting my oriental people mixed up, hope no
one took offense. :(

See discogail's link.

It must be something in the air. I just read *ano*ther* post, somewhere,
where Xnews was attributed to Mike Lin. Or maybe Mike's come up with a
Mike Lin Booster Group. The latter possibility *will* be reported at
the next Luu Tran Booster Group regional meeting and bowling
extravaganza. :)

It's called Clipomatic and you're right, the coding is very compact.
Nothing fancy, but only uses ~150K memory when running.

When I shut down, Clipomatic forgets my clips unless I close Clipomatic
before I shut down the computer. Do you have this prob?

No.....they're all there.......

I have been a long time user and fan of Windows Cliptray (there is a
quite different non Microsoft product also called Cliptray).

Have tried many alternative cliptray managers, but Cliptray seems to
be the easiest and best for my needs.

I originally installed it under Win 98 and somehow managed to install
it under Win XP and have used it in that environment for the last 6
months without problem.

I have recently carried out a clean reinstall of windows XP and for
the life of me cannot get Cliptray to install in the new system.

It is on the win 98 CD but it won't install under XP - says you have
to install win 98 first.

Tried just copying the files across but it balked at a missing dll,
which I found on my old system and copied across, but then it balked
at some "failure to register an ocx" message which I deleted in
frustration.

Can anyone offer any suggestions as to how it can be installed under
XP. I know it can be done, but how????

It was probably me, in another life, on another planet, in another parallel
universe. ;)

It will more than likely run on XP. Have you tried registering the ocx or
dll? Here is example usage of regsvr32, typed into the Run line:

regsvr32.exe glide2x.dll

To undo what you've done (uninstall), you would type:

regsvr32.exe /u glide2x.dll

Hopefully you know the ocx file it is asking for. May be too much work if
you don't, but to find out you could install Cliptray on a 98 sytem,
logging the install with Total Uninstall to find out what gets put into the
system. If you already have it installed in the win98 system, then
uninstalling it may not take out everything that was put in, so you may not
find out what you want when you reinstall. There is also a program called
Dependency Walker, but I haven't used it much... let me know if it works
(if you try it).

Stuff gets complicated huh?
