| I should've specified. I read it off the label on the DIMM. See
| http://www.zwief.com/Infineon_512MB_DDR_133MHz.jpg

My suspicion is that you do have the correct RAM. PC2100 IS DDR266. If you've
installed it, try running AIDA32 as I indicated earlier. That will tell you
exactly what you have. It should show as PC2100 (133 MHz). My RAM is DDR333,
and AIDA32 shows it as PC2700 (166 MHz). If it were DDR400, it would show as
PC3200 (200 MHz).

A little checking shows the stick of RAM you bought probably isn't a current
Infineon product. The 512MB registered item shown in the chart toward the
bottom of this page is more than likely the current version of what you got.

Just thought I'd followup on the results of this transaction. The RAM
arrived today, Dec. 13, 2003, just over two weeks after ordering.

Unfortunately, the RAM delivered is not 266 MHz. It is 133 MHz. Now, it's
been over ten years since I assembled significant numbers of computers, so
I'm no longer up to speed on all the finer points, but I have to assume that
this totally sucks! That using this RAM is going to cause a bottleneck in my
system performance, no?

I've already confirmed that the order specifically states 266 MHZ.
(MEM-DR51ER 4 NEW 512MB DDR PC2100 266MHz ECC Registered 1 year)

As they don't conduct business on the weekend, I'll have to wait until
Monday to see what they'll do to correct the order.

Thanks for the info. It really looks like you're right. I checked out
Crucial's FAQs and they explain it pretty much the same way you do.

I'm going to do a bit more research before actually installing it.

Thanks again,

Dave
