Does anyone reading this post have the problem described in this KB article?
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/917332/en-us
The monitor does not turn on when you move the mouse or press any key after
you configure the "Power Options" settings on a Windows XP SP2-based portable
computer
I have this same exact problem on Vista Enterprise after the screen saver
kicks in and after a hibernation. On XP, Microsoft says this happens because
of a bug in the videosys.prt mini-port driver on multiple-processor machines.
There is an updated version to download there -- the only question is, will
it work on Vista?
Problem Reports and Solutions recommends updating the BIOS -- I think this
is an eronious solution (I have the latest version). The videoprt.sys driver
sounds more like the culprit to me because the KB systems described are
exactly like mine.
Microsoft, if you are aware of this, please let us know if there is an
updated Vista driver.
Thanks!
