I too had to search... the last resort which should have been my first
resort was an art supply shop. There are two options, one by the fine
arts, and one by the crafts. Both are worth experimenting with. But
really the acrylics are the way to go... that's the name you gotta
search for, these work. Urathanes, poly-urathanes corrupt data.

If you need to test, evaluate your self on the clear coaster they
provide for you with a cakebox of dvds, see the effect the
poly-urathane has on it. It tends to warp the plastic slightly and
makes the plastic white. Not so good for data as the chemicals seem to
penitrate the plastic deeply.
Zakezuke,
I do have a Michaels nearby. Will check that out as John suggested.
Thanks,
Carol

P.S. sorry about sending the 1st one to you privately. I thought I hit
"reply to group".

I have never seen plastic protection that covers the clear side of the
disk. Seems it might distort the clarity. All the library disks I
borrow have the label side covered with a clear plastic adhesive
protection sheet.

I found them at Wal-mart for $4.84 for a package of 5. They are by d_skin
and have an orange and purple label that says in black lettering "stop disc
abuse!" I tried them last night. Worked great. They snaped on and off
real easy. The test will be when I get a chance to play the discs, but it
seemed like it would protect them as good or better than other methods.
