Many people says, that a Beta of AVG7 is the solution...
I tried to install it today, but have some problems.

When I click on a link in a newsgroup, (like the one above) nothing
happens. If I try to click a link on a webpage to open another (for
dl-ing ex) nothing happens... and the version 7 is a (big) bit more
consuming than ver. 6 is... so for now, I just uninstalled it and
reinstalled ver 6...

*SIGH* Once again.......The beta is *time limited* and at this point,
not worth installing at all. Also, support for version 6 will continue
until December 31, 2004.

No adware, cdware, commercial software, crippleware, demoware,
nagware, shareware, spyware, time-limited software, trialware, viruses
or warez please.

Because Andy Mabbett is stalking me in this group, I have him killfiled.

Gosh, I hope its less bloated than the commerical 7.0 which is
so much resource hungrier than commercial or free 6.

I found AVG 6 to be too resource hungry. It was quite a pleasure to
try the free AntiVir PE as an alternative. I also tried Kaspersky
($$$) and although it was good it was not brilliant.

The beta seems MUCH improved over the version 7 eval I tried when it was
first released. They have also integrated the Personal Email Scanner,
which was a somewhat unknown add-on before. So far, I'm happy with the
beta of Free 7.

I installed AVG 7.0 beta, and found that I could no longer read floppy
disks or CD-Rs -- I got an error message that their file system was
unreadable, or something similar. I uninstalled 7.0b and, voila, I could
read all my disks/CD-ROMs again.

Anyone else had this problem? Can you suggest a way round it within 7.0b?
I'd like to use it, but not if it blocks access to my peripherals...

Have you sent off a report to Grisoft telling them. It may only be in the
beta version.

Ray.

Not yet, but I will -- just thought I'd see if anyone else had had the same
problem.
