Bring back the Strap, Cane and the infamous Ruler ... the ruler was the worse. If you were lucky the teacher forgot to use the edge of the ruler and you only got the flat part ... still hurt, as it was always on the knuckles.

Wonder if I can get compensation, as I now have the arthritis in me hands. :D

Sorry to say Viv, but they is flogging a dead horse ... discipline starts at home, if the parents ain't doing their bit, what chance have the teachers.

It's political correctness gone crazy, how else do you deal with unruly children.
Some schools have even stopped PE in case a child injures themselves & the school or teachers could be sued!!
The worlds gone mad or am i getting mature & wiser:eek:

Agree with that one 500000%!

I've lived in plenty of different areas and the ones which have the worst kids have parents just as bad in most cases. I live in a really rough area at the moment and the kids are pretty bad here, but the parents are even worse!

Ya can't beat the Old Teachers ...

They could hit a fly off the end of your nose with either the blackboard eraser or a piece of chalk ... not to mention every one of them were born with eyes in the back of their heads.

Oh and my English Literature teacher threw desks over and told you to "clear off out you lowlife, and dont come back " when you spoke in his class :(

I feel so sorry for teachers nowadays  having to deal with the little ****es that are spawned.

Why should they have to put up with it. Especially with the money they get these days.
It shouldn't be the kids/parents sueing schools/teachers it should be schools/teachers sueing kids/parents

And I don't agree with spending money on "specialist" schools/units or whatever to deal with the muppets. Why should they get 1 to 1 attention from a teacher when it should be all the good students who get it.

I say put them all into boot camps and kick all there skinny little arses until they cry for there mommy :D
Which wouldn't take long. At least that way they might start to appreciate life a bit more. But I doubt it.

Like has been said though, it starts at home I'm afraid to say (speaking as an expecting father :))

Well said Mudfrog .

I have four kids and although 2 are very young , they all know politeness and respect , it is the things i as an adult am very strong opinioned about . It doesn`t cost anything its simply part of the ongoing commitment of being a parent . Something a few so called adults lack as they have kids from being very stupid in the use of contraceptives or lack of use .

We had an ex-royal marine commando rsm, tough as anything, would call your name out and then shout for 5 seconds & then go back to talking quietly, he was however someone who had a great sense of humour and would help in anyway he could. If you upset you would know about it & quickly.

My friends 2 children are so well behaved always say please & thank you, are great to spend a day with and understand the differences of being good & naughty;)

It is also something I feel quite strongly about.
It doesn't cost anythng to be polite and and generally well mannered.
A friend of mine caught the train home from work yesterday and he said some school kids got on and some of the things they were coming out with were well let's just say that it wasn't nice.

It's something I'm really gonna try hard to do is install (parden the pun) some real values and not let them get away with what some of these kids get away with.
Now I'm not gonna be all Hitler about it, but just let them know right from wrong etc...

My greatest advice to any would be parent is be consistent at all times, you wont go far wrong :thumb:

I think that the kids that are bad enough to deserve a smacking would smack the teacher back if they got hit...

The government will soon realise...

then the next stage is initiated ...Police

Then if sentences fit the crime , some kind of worthwhile justice will be done ..like National Service ...

Just imagine if teachers were allowed to physically discipline students. They wouldn't be able to implement it, for starters the kids would fight back which would just cause chaos, plus it would put children off from attending school.

Also surely it would give the kids the idea that violence is acceptable, which it isn't.

would stop them if you always made sure the other person was stronger physically and mentally ?? where would that leave them :thumb:

And when you do that make sure their friends see it !!

But would it stop say half the class all attacking the teacher? Although saying that, you may only have one or two mis behaved children in one class.

But outside of school the kids would just other people to use violence outside of school. It basically escalates. Like i said it just gives the wrong message to children.

So what do you do ? let them dictate ?
Nah ... treat them the same as they treat others ... if they dont change , then who will care... not me ,coz i`m sure their parents dont ..and then maybe good kids can play in peace

Yeah i see what you mean. The vast majority of children are well behaved and willing to learn, its just some who decide to cause trouble.
