ok, i had the same problem when i did a window vista update it totaly knock
my drives out.
to fix the problem in the run command type this
regedit
Open Registry Editor & find
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325
-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} - "Upperfilters" and "Lowerfilters".
Delete the values for upper & lower filters.
Then go into Device Manager & Uninstall the drives
finally Scan For Hardware Changes( right -click the computer name ) & let it
reinstall the drives.
That will let them show back up.
and they will work again
