Looks like Lynn & I have the same problem.I have a bunch of duplicate
e-mails
I would like to delete so I can free up hard disk space and I don't really
like the idea
of doing so manually as there are several thousand in total. To ask her
question again-Is there some utility available to do this as
Mr.VanDermolen
didn't seem to answer her question, but instead beat around the bush.
My problem started when I tried to combine my e-mails from my desktop with
those I have on my laptop so I would quit having e-mails in 2 separate
places
by using Easy Transfer which added a 2nd account to the laptop which has
since been removed.Don't know if the messages were transferred or not.
I also realize Now I probably should have used the Import feature for
messages included in Windows Mail so all my settings were not transferred.
I was given a number last evening by a friend for 1 free tech support call
to
Microsoft, but I would prefer not to use it until absolutely necessary.

Did you see my reply to Lynn?

Apparently I missed it mac, however,I just signed up for this group today and
I didn't get any messages from last year if that is when you posted it.I
only got the first 300 out of almost 11,000 that had been previously
posted. If you wouldn't mind answering again it would be most appreciated.

It was in this thread, the first reply to Lynn's post, copied below.

THis is a wonderful resource, but they do sometimes become "superior" in
answering.

My problem is that I have duplicates in my mail folders that I keep and
want
to know if there is a utility to delete duplicate e-mails.

I do not like the Vista alternative to Outlook. It has few really good
tools for me. It is a shadow of Outlook and it doesn't look like
Microsoft
is planning on improving it.

Thanks for any help in removing duplicate e-mails in folders I save.

Not wanting to sound "superior" :-)

I use OEX for that and many other mail tasks:

a.. Removing duplicate messages
a.. Importing messages from other dbx files or eml files
a.. Removing attachments from messages
a.. Saving attachments from messages
a.. Converting messages to Plain Text only
a.. Exporting messages as eml files
a.. Saving lists of messages in folders
a.. Sending messages again
a.. Editing sent messages to send again

from http://www.oehelp.com/OEX/Default.aspx not free.

I don't think my response to Lynn was "beating around the bush."
The short answer is 'no', Windows Mail has no facility for cleaning out
duplicate messages. Lynn complained that such a facility was available in
Microsoft Outlook, to which my response was that you can't expect the
same level of features in a free email client that you have in a paid-for
(premium) client program.

Am receiving duplicate emails(very annoying!). This has only started
happening. The email scanning in my security software is turned of.
Does anyone have a solution for this.
