Yea your right, its not a true 30HP, but it does increase the induction, allowing a higher volume and a denser(cooler) air. More air mixed with *usually equals more power. And the exaust system is true to a point, for my little 4 banger I actually need the back pressure, without it I may gain some top end speed but lose some tourque. And when I recomended a Cold air intake, I actually meant taking out the stock air filter box and installing it like mine, a 3.5" pipe running from the wheel well all the way to the throtle body. And ususally a kit will come with all the aftermarket compenents needed. You will feel the feel the diffrence there and no need to mess with the exaust yet. But as far as My own exaust, just going to remove the catalyct converter and straight pipe it.

Again I concede, but I definately don't think its pointless. I think its a great first step, next a chip. Besides I see it as no different than modding in an extra fan or two in your pc case, perhaps you don't need it but its nice to have.
