Oh man I can tell this is going to be fun.........

Yea your right, its not a true 30HP, but it does increase the induction, allowing a higher volume and a denser(cooler) air. More air mixed with *usually equals more power. And the exaust system is true to a point, for my little 4 banger I actually need the back pressure, without it I may gain some top end speed but lose some tourque. And when I recomended a Cold air intake, I actually meant taking out the stock air filter box and installing it like mine, a 3.5" pipe running from the wheel well all the way to the throtle body. And ususally a kit will come with all the aftermarket compenents needed. You will feel the feel the diffrence there and no need to mess with the exaust yet. But as far as My own exaust, just going to remove the catalyct converter and straight pipe it.

the kits are pretty simple, bit of tube some clamps, filter and an air dam, i helped my friend fit one, yeah the increase air flow but unless you have the mods to the engine to actually need the extra air its pointless IMO, they help to lean out the A/F ratio which the ECU deals with by adding more fuel, which increases throttle response and increases power a bit
 
This is great, I think we may have to add a new section to Pc-review.
Again I concede, but I definately don't think its pointless. I think its a great first step, next a chip. Besides I see it as no different than modding in an extra fan or two in your pc case, perhaps you don't need it but its nice to have.

But here is my dream car.......

my dad owns a porsche 911s ... WHAT A CAR!! he used to own a AC COBRA ... WHAT A CAR!!!

yet my dream car is only a ferrari F50 :D !

but the realsistic dream car i want is a campervan!!! :D

I have a Pajero!2.5 TDI
blank the EGR valve off £5.00 thats the cost of the blanking plate fitted 4 mins ;) whooooooooooooooooooooooooossssssssssssssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhhh:D

i thght dreams always look nice and appealing
 
They are kinda an icon though, but i wouldn't have one myself.
The split window ones are rare and worth quite a bit in good nick.
