Don't trust WD rebates

I'm happy to say that I received all of my WD rebates on the 160gb drive I
bought from Fry's.

Two rebates for a total of $70 on that product.

Arrived within alloted time, though the $20 one arrived very quickly. Made me
wonder if the $50 one was coming. But it got here within the time.

I got a $100 rebate from fry's. I sweated that one ;)
Having watched the ads for a while, I notice you can get the same hard
drive product at lower prices with lower rebates if you wait one to
six months. Lately I've notice they tried two rebates. They
advertise it as a $100 rebate, but it's really a 30/70 rebate. Twice
the paperwork. A month later, you could get the same product with
just a $30 rebate. It's better to wait if you can.
 
I got my $70 rebate from a WD 200 gig HD Fry's purchase in less than four
weeks. However, the drive developed an annoying high-pitched whine after
less than a week of operation, and had to be replaced under warranty.
 
I'm still waiting for the $50. rebate the $20. one came in about 3 weeks,
now its been 11 weeks. It show on the rebate web site that its being
processed but wont be mailed for another 10 - 15 days.

I filed a complaint about Fry's with my attourney generals office but not
about the rebates. I got tiered of all those mistakes in the ads. Like
last week Athlon 2.4XP + ECS motherboard for 49.00 whoops we meant to put
Duron 1.6G. Guess they dont read those adds befor they print them. They
would not give me the price but while I was still there the next guy who
came got it for that price. Guess I should of made a fuss like he did.
