Does Vista come with this?

And now vista works flawlessly?

Its a nightmare!

PERHAPS after sp1 it will be usable...

Oh *yawn* you're the first person in the world to compare XGL with Aero.
This hasn't been done to death in here before or anything. Bravo.

Longhorn, the early editions of Vista, was perfectly capable of doing that,
in fact was shown doing it in demos long before XGL was able to do it, but
this was taken out of recent versions due to the fact it's a load of useless
eyecandy that adds nothing to the user experience.

LOL, so is aero!

Yeahh...yawn...no matter how technical these comparisons are, VISTA
CAN'T do IT! Hello - that was the point of the thread!
DUUYYYYYYYY....

Actually yes it can. It is perfectly capable of doing it. Early betas of it
_did_ it. The ability to have the seasick windows effects was implemented
and later removed as the UI developers felt it didn't add anything to the
actual usability of the system.

You'll notice that if you go to the introduction of that article that it was
actually posted in 2003.

And yes, I'm such a Windows fanboy that I actually own a Mac. I guess that's
blown your little conspiracy theory right out the water.

And I'm such a Vista fanboy that a quick scan of my posts here have been
almost entirely critical of most of its features, in particular the UI we're
discussing. But I guess that knowing that would require you to do some
research instead of being an ignorant snot-nosed brat.

Right. I believe that's you totally pwn3d. To paraphrase an ignorant
snot-nosed brat who tried to show me up and failed dismally just the other
day, "> DUUYYYYYYYY.... ". Now keep quiet junior, adults are talking.

Indeed. Once the novelty of flip-3d wears off, which is round-about the
second time you try it, you've really got to wonder what the point was.

HI Robert.

What gets me is it seems (and I could be wrong) that the aero and flip
3d are some of the biggest features MS is touting about Vista.

When will these features be available in Windows - 5 years from now? Next
version or Service Packs?

If only I had the knowledge to set up a triple boot system with MCE2005 and
Vista to run that I'd be impressed, but I guess no links to Exchange and no
Pocket PC sync.....so... not for me ;(

True. Flip 3D though, whatever I think of it or you think of it, is a
feature. One I'm underwhelmed with, but one that they can point to. I can
see why they'd promote that.

Aero as an overall concept, with transparent window borders etc, isn't
really a feature, it's just part of the OS "skin", and one that reduces
usable screen real-estate and readability of window titles at that :-(

I'm with you there. Flip 3d is a feature, I haven't seen it in any
other OS (please correct me if I'm wrong). But it is just eye candy
IMHO, not anything useful. But it would be a feature for those who like
eye candy.
