Hi,

If a laptop has Windows Vista pre-installed, is there still any kind
of activation required then (or is Windows Vista ready to use in this
case)?

Peter

The one's I've seen required activation. They came with Vista home basic
installed and a anytime upgrade DVD with license (to home premium+). The
key on the machine needed to be typed in and activated. Not sure about
internet activation. Maybe they used the OEM BIOS method.

The laptop mftr. will have done the activation for you.

On my laptop with OEM Vista I had to activate it by clicking on Help and
Support, typing "activation" in the Search box, it opens a window with
options -- click on "Activate Windows on this computer" and another window
will tell you activation has been done.

But this procedure did not require an active internet connection,
right?
