I have to aggree with that.. most new technology is indeed under the hood...

I just dont like the UI that much but that can be customized with 3rd party
programs...

The tick tick tick is to remind you that you want to be reminded. I agree
with you, I think there should be a mute button on the egg timer for the
tick sound, but you can always mute the volume control. But I think the
final tada sound is necessary, just like an alarm clock.

tick-tick-tick?

I don't got that

The solitare puzzle is cool too, I programmed a solitare puzzle too, it is
Mastermind. But I wrote it in Java, too bad. I would have submitted to
Microsoft to include it in the Vista gadgets. But Microsoft does not support
Java.

See http://www.webacre.com/mastermind/Mastermind.htm but you must have Java
installed for it to work.

I didn't mean to imply that the search index was the only reason good thing.
I just noticed the omission from the list.

I realize that if my goal were to milk a few more years out of XP and my
current hardware, then obviously I could use some other indexing software.
But when it comes to tech, "status quo" and "old" just aren't my thing. For
example when I start using hybrid SATA drives, I'd like to have an OS that
takes advantage of flash memory to my advantage.

There's no doubt in my mind that come 2009 or 2010 there will be plenty of
people out there using XP, Windows 2000, and everything else. That's the way
it always plays out. And that's how this product will play out too. People
should use whatever OS they want to use.
