I've paid for and own both OS's... and I intend to run them both for at
least 30 days once I have mustered up the energy to take the time.

Be aware that if you buy a Vista upgrade, you have not paid for both to
run at the same time, the Vista license "absorbs" the XP license.

Awrighty then.... it's back to MS with this. I'll get the full version when I've
received a full refund on the upgd. That is, unless I keep hanging around
these MS VISTA groups and reading the nightmares, in which case I'll likely
be forgetting the whole idea for a couple of years.

Thanks

A Google search or a search of this newsgroup should get you the procedure.

Basically, as I understand it, install Vista by booting from the DVD and
specify the install location to a partition/drive different from your XP
installation. Instead of typing in the DVD code when asked just press ENTER
and complete the install. When the install is complete reboot. With the
newly installed Vista running once again do an upgrade install, this time
typing in the DVD code when asked. Upon completion of this second install
you will have both a functioning XP and Vista installation.

MS created, provided and included this procedure on the DVD you purchased
and therefore I do not consider it a violation of any rule.

Caution: The procedure above is as I remember reading it. Given my
sometimes faulty memory YMMV. It would probably be best if you searched for
detailed instructions.
