Hi

Don´t be sorry ;) Beacuse this is a mystery ?

Within folder (for me) {4C5D410F-84BC-4F14-BC86-41C945A94EB3}
I have latest defs datet yesterday.

"Updates" is also empty

Do you have the log file ?
C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution\ReportingEvents.log

Something is strange beacuse of the never ending Cat&Rat game between
MS and Pirates beacuse I got my logfile yesterday when I updated the
WGA tool.

Maybe one other way is to first flush Softwaredistribution

http://djlizard.net/software/Dial-a-fix.exe

Then go to Windowsupdate:
http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com

Look for updates and install.

Check WD again.

Also to maybe move the definition folder and see if an update
recreates it with new definitions.

regards
plun

Plun,

ReportingEvents.log shows all the attempts to update as successful, whereas
they were not, as did Microsoft update and/or WD check for updates. That is a
serious problem.

More reliable is eventviewer/Applications, look for logs related to MSI
installer; failed updates show as error logs. successful updates show as info
logs. the descriptions section specifies what it was attempting to install,
so it is easy to identify the ones relating to WD updates. In my case the
failed updates show error code 1603.

Mine are similar, JRosenfeld. Reporting Events log shows all attempts
successful - whereas the event viewer shows installation failed on each of
the signatures. Something is BAD wrong.

Glad you sorted it out. And I think Microsoft has heard the message
about the updater problem.
