I have it set to 4 permanently.
Oh well this version will expire soon and I am not able to spend $$ to buy
the retail so it will have to be back to XP for me anyway.
:(

Thanks Steve

Did you compact the database after all the deletions? You have to compact
it to reduce the size.

Its too late now, since you deleted the files, but in the future you can
compaction by changing the number of closings of WinMail to 1 under Tools |
Options | Advanced | Maintenance.

Hey Jim!!!
Ok
For months my database has been about 50 megs. When it goes up to 70 or more
I bog down.
Like When switching Ng's it hangs etc. So I delete all headers and messages.
Database goes back to about 50 megs and all is right with the world.

LOL
You will love this
Last week I decided to check out the New England Patriots NG on my comcast
server.
It downloaded over 4 thousand headers! Poof my data base is now 270 megs :(
I deleted headers I deleted message bodies I did it again and again and
again I did a catch up on every NG I even reset all and then did a catch up
on all.
I deleted the Pats NG. It is stuck at 270 megs! I deleted headers I deleted
message bodies I did it again and again and again
THIS IS A BUG
I even deleted the Pats ng file in the store folder.

No we should not expect this. No I wont get used to it. No I will not use
another reader.
We are running the Beta to find problems before the release.
I found one..................

Hi Dilly: It sounds like something other than the mail app is to blame
here. Have you tried disabling all other programs that may be "touching"
your mail, such as antivirus program, spam programs, even the "Junk" mail
filter in Windows Mail can be the source, plus not having enough RAM for
Vista. Although it is supposed to run with less, I really think trying to
use less than 1.5-2 GB of RAM is not productive.

You might also want to try using "Windows Mail Live Desktop beta" for your
newsgroups and see if that helps. But "slow" is a relative term. What
exactly do you mean by it being slow? In what way? Compared to what?
What
have you tried to fix it? Then we might be able to better help.

Enjoy the snow.

That's normal. Just let it be. It will get even bigger.

There is now just one database file and all the messages are listed
there
(the messages are not stored in the file) and have fields extrapolated
from
them. It can get over a terabyte if you want. <G>

OK
My Database is 256 megs I have compacted deleted read messages and
bodies
and headers but its still 256.
What can I try?
I don't want to reset all my ng's and just have to download all the crap
over again.
Ideas?
Jim?
Steve?

Oh. You are using 5600. I don't think there's an easy fix other than what
you did. I thought you had the final.

cheers,

steve
