Jen, I have been going through the EXACT same thing as you and I still
haven't found a way to burn a DVD with my Nero 6 and Movie Maker 2 programs.
It's killing me because that is basically the only reason I bought this new
computer. Have you figured it out yet? I've been trying to update my Nero 6
to get some conversion tools to make a DVD!!! If you found a way, I'd love
to hear how... Thanks Jen,
Lindsey

MSWMM is *NOT* a video format. Let me repeat that for everyone...

MSWMM is *NOT* a video format.

MSWMM is a file that contains the details of the project; location of the
source files, edits, etc. It is not a video file. You must open the
project and save the project as a *VIDEO* file. In your case, it would be
best to save it as a DV-AVI file and then use whatever third party app you
prefer to burn it as a DVD.

A DVD is a standard for audio and video...the video is a very specific type
of MPEG-2, and the audio is stored in one of several formats (PCM, Dolby
Digital, etc); and the files have to be stored in a very specific structure
and sequence on the disk.

You *CANNOT* convert a project file (MSWMM) to *ANY* video format, because a
MSWMM file is not a video file.

And, before you ask, the answer is *NO*; you cannot use Movie Maker to make
a DVD.

Perhaps it might help you if you did a little research and educated
yourself; it will allow you to make a much better final product.

Lindsey,
The steps to saving and burning your movie are listed in my post above of
11/27.

You say you have Nero 6. Is that Nero Ultra Edition 6 or Reloaded or basic.
You will need Ultra or reloaded to complete the task effortlessly.

Wow Bobby, what a nice guy you seem to be...

But thank you Pat for being a little more understanding. I have Nero 6 and
I've downloaded the ultra update but when I drop or add the AVI movie file I
saved, it comes back with an error that it's not compatible. Then when I try
another way it says I need the DVD-video plug-in which I thought came with
this update. I'm about to delete every thing from Nero and try something
new... Do you think I should do that?
Thanks,
Lindsey

Lindsey,
Since I purchased the Ultra 6 Edition that was complete with plug-ins, I do
not know if your free downloaded version has it or not. Nero is an excellent
source to convert your WMM files to a usable dvd.

I am now seeing the Sunday flyers advertising Nero Ultra 6, after rebates,
for as little as $39.99. It is an excellent software. I do not know if you
can download the plug-in for free or not. I definitely would consider a
little more investment. It is really worth it for user-friendly, simple dvd
creations. It also has many other neat features. It does have its own slide
show maker, however, I still prefer WMM 2.1 better.

Hope this helps.
