Computer not Recognizing that the DVD-RW drive can record

No, this isn't working for me. I have Sony DRU-810A USB. This is
driving me crazy!!!

I had a very similar issue which I appear to have solved. I had just
finished a wipe and reinstall, so the hardware was all the same. The OS just
seemed to not be able to recognize my CD-RW and DVD+R as burning drives.

I followed the procedures in this Knowledgebase article and it fixed my
problem.
