It's well written. Bookmarked and scanned but not completely "read" if you
know what I mean. Thanks for the link.

Please excuse me if this post is in the wrong place, I am new to these
message boards.

I have an old game that I wanted to try to play. In the 1st Degree, it is
a 2 cd multi-platform (windows 95 and mac). These are the orginal game disks
I purchased in 1995.

The problem is that when I put the disk in the CD drive it won't install.
When I check the properties it appears that the disk is blank. When I try to
use Run from the start menu I get a format error that states "Windows cannot
read from this disk. The disk might be corrupted, or it could be using a
format that is not compatible with windows".
I have already updated all the drivers, and I cleaned the disk. My CD drive
works fine with all my other cd's. I tried to run in compatibility, however
it read the disk either. I don't think that the disk is corrupted, because a
friend could run it on his mac.

Any help would be great.

Hi Ron,

I'll respond to your 2nd post.. hope it helps.

I need some help with command window. When I try to play game in full
screen mode, It appears in small window and leaves a big black screen around.
Its like, it appears in small screen centered.

Hi Jignesh,

Are you playing the game on a laptop? If so, what make and model?

I have been trying to run a game called Caesar 3 on XP proffesional, but
despite my efforts with the compatability wizard, all i get is a message
saying it is not a valid 32 bit application. Can u help?

Hi bob,

It's possible that you will need to log on using an Administrator account
in order to get Ceasar III to run on your system even using compatibility
mode: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307091

It runs fine without compatibility mode on my XP Pro.
The only time I get 'not valid Win32 app' is when the file ityself is
corrupted. Maybe your Caesar 3 CD needs cleaning?

Afraid this is bad news for the originating poster. The file is corrupt. You
need to get another copy. I have gotten that error when an antivirus program
stripped a virus from the program. I have gotten that error when I copied
the exe file without zipping it first, and I corrupted it during the copy
process. I have uninstalled files under Windows 98 and then corrupted them
when I copied them onto XP or started using them in XP even though they had
been installed and copied under 98 on a Fat32 drive. There are several ways
and reasons the file can go bad, but you are not going to get around that
valid win 32 problem unless you get another working copy.
