cd drive not recognizing blank discs

My cd/dvd burner recognizes all types of discs (including blank DVDs) but not
blank cd-r or rw disks

I have copying enabled on the drive

any suggestions?

Does it recognise burnt CD-R disks? If not, then the CD laser is shot.

Join the club, mine has been doing this for weeks, still no solution, and my
drive is not bad, it works fine when using w2k pro
