Gary VanderMolen said:You left off the most important part of the error message. It will look
something like this:
The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'test', Account:

Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

problems! I'd rather keep my only Windows 98 HP!!! Is Windows Vista the
issue? I cannot send my mail! This is the error message I receive:
The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be
correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this
problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the
"I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining
the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider.
Any ideas?

I am having a similar problem. History first. Probably about a month ago
I
had to do a system resore on my notebook. Before then everything was
working
good. I have two seperate profiles setup on my notebook. One for my wife
and one for me. I got the problem within a few days after the restore on
my
wifes profile but not mine. I can not send/receive all or send all. It
just
locks up with no detail on the error. It even happens with send all by
itself. I can still send from the new email screen. What makes it funny
is
that my profile works just fine but not the wifes. Can any one explain
that?
It could well be anti-virus software that is causing you grief.
Most likely you have McAfee or Norton AV installed
in which case get rid of them and use

Should you encounter messages stuck in Outbox...
This... http://www.oehelp.com/WMUtil/Default.aspx
is a very simple and easy solution providing the user
isn't too proud to read simple and easy instructions.
note. very occasionally the site is temporarily unavailable
but then wait a short while and retry.
