Can't publish to my host

When I try that I get this error message: The folder
'http://www.rosweed.com/' isn't accessible. The folder may be located in an
unavailable location, protected with a password, or the filename contains a /
or \.

Since I switched computers, I have never been able to publish by selecting
FrontPage or Sharepoint Services and entering http://www.rosweed.com in
Remote Web Site Properties. All I get is the error message mentioned
previously. I don't even get to the password step.

I can publish by selecting FTP.

You said in the start of this thread you did that w/o any problem in FP by using
File Open Site/Web and entering your URL as http://www.yoursitenamehere.com/ and logging in

Have you contacted your host to ask them to run server health check on the extensions for your
account and/or to re-install them?

Yes. They say everything is fine on their end and they can publish to the
site with no problem. They have changed the index page and the changes are
there when I go to the site on the internet. I just don't understand what can
be wrong.

Is it possible that something in the pages on my computer may be corrupted
or causing this inabiility to access my host server?

I had a very similar problem. When logged on to our corporate LAN I have to
use a proxy to access the internet and so I had to specify *.domain.com as
an exception in IE to make this work. When I work outside of my corporate
LAN eg at home, I don't use the proxy (unless I am VPNd to the corporate
LAN) and I don't get the error message. Hope this is useful.

The only other time I have had this error is when the domain servers were
incorrectly specified by my hoster (I had recently moved the domain from
another hoster) and so FrontPage was going to a site where FPE were not
installed. The hoster could obviously see the FPE extension because they
were inside their network, but no one outside could see them. Hope this is
useful too.

Rosweed, I am having exactly the same problems as you, did you manage to

I had a very similar problem. When logged on to our corporate LAN I have to
use a proxy to access the internet and so I had to specify *.domain.com as
an exception in IE to make this work. When I work outside of my corporate
LAN eg at home, I don't use the proxy (unless I am VPNd to the corporate
LAN) and I don't get the error message. Hope this is useful.

The only other time I have had this error is when the domain servers were
incorrectly specified by my hoster (I had recently moved the domain from
another hoster) and so FrontPage was going to a site where FPE were not
installed. The hoster could obviously see the FPE extension because they
were inside their network, but no one outside could see them. Hope this is
useful too.

I don't think so, but perhaps I've been doing it wrong. When I go to
File/Open Site it doesn't give me any way to open my site on the
internet. It
just gives me a list of my various files on my computer.

If I try File/Open it gives me the same options.

Thanks to everybody who tried to help me with this problem.

Since my files were completely wiped out anyway, I started from scratch. I'm
using WordPress and Dreamweaver to re-construct my site. I have not tried
publishing from FrontPage and probably won't use the program again.

By the way, I was completely intimidated by FTP and had a lot of problems
figuring out different FTP programs until I found something called Filezilla.
It's great!
