when I try to save a file in IE6.0, a file download box
appears. Normally there are options to "open" or "save"
the file. If I choose "open", nothing happens.
The "save" option will work, but sometimes I just want to
open the file and view it without downloading it. What
can I do to fix this problem?

You did not mention what type of files, if only one kind, and if you are attempting to open from a secured (https://) site. If a secure site it may not allow for just opening and needs to be saved in order to view the file. I searched our support site and did not find a related article. Was this occuring at any site, or just one particular site?

Elizabeth,
this is occuring at different sites, and all different
kinds of files are involved. Instead of opening the
file, nothing happens. I can save it to my hard drive,
but sometimes I don't want to do that, I just want to
open it and view it without saving it. Any other ideas?
Thanks,
Bob
