Epson has nothing to do with it. Philips owns the necessary IP for CD
printing, and Canon opted not to pay for the US market, while Epson has.
Now, it could have been Epson has coerced Philips into being a beeatch WRT
to others, or just Canon, to have CD printing, or simply the exclusive
right to CD printing in the US.
From what I understand, Canon agreed with (or was coerced by) Epson
for Epson to offer the only printers sold in the United States to
have direct CD/DVD printing capability.
