Cannot send mail due to SMTP server error

You should ask your internet provider for their instructions for setting up
a new email account. If they have any sense, the instructions will contain
the name of the SMTP server. They should also tell you how to derive
your email address from your login name.

Or, if you're in a hurry, tell us who your internet provider is and
see if anyone here already knows where to find their instructions.

Note that you can seldom reach port 25 if your connection goes
through another internet provider's equipment before it reaches
your provider's email server. This is a common blocking to make
it difficult for spammers.

POP= Post Office Protocol, a standard method for retrieving emails
from a mail server. Mail providers often use that abbreviation in naming
their incoming mail server, i.e., pop.isp.com.
However, I would not put too much stock in the response you quoted.
If you will describe your symptoms, and include any error messages,
I will be glad to help you without using jargon. :-)

Try replacing your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server to a pop.

So that both incoming and outgoing are the same.

Does your connection to that server cross over from one internet provider's
equipment to another's before it reaches the server? If so, such
connections
to port 25 are often blocked to cause problems for spammers.

I assume you decided not to show the actual address; if you did, note that
few email servers accept addresses with < or > in them, even if they put
these
characters around the addresses.

SaberNet doesn't seem to have put instructions for setting up to use their
servers on their web site, so you may have to either use a webmail
connection
(through a browser such as Internet Explorer, not through Windows Mail)
or call them and ask for instructions.

Does your connection to the server go through a crossover from one internet
provider's equipment to another's? If so, connections to port 25 are likely
to be blocked to cause trouble for spammers.

Depends on who your email provider is. Many people choose their
internet provider as their email provider also, since most internet
accounts include one or more email accounts. Ask them for their
instructions on how to set up to use their email servers, which
should include the server names. If they haven't written instructions
for Windows Mail yet, their instructions for Outlook Express
should also work under Windows Mail if they don't call for the
HTTP protocol. The instructions are usually somewhere on their
web site. Or, you could tell us who your email provider is and see
if anyone here already knows where to find their instructions.

Some IP's (Cox for one) block acess to smtp servers other than the cox
(IP's) outgoing mail server by blocking port 25.
On the other hand the error message makes me think that there is something
incorrect in your mail client account setup
The reference to SSL makes me a bit suspicious.

You would not want to do that.

If you have a problem, then copy and paste the error messages that WM gives
when you try to send or receive mail.
