Cannot send email to groups of people using Windows Mail.

I have Norton Internet Security. I just checked the settings and it was set
to remove any "out bound" threats. I changed the setting to "Ask me what to
do". Hopefully it will work.

Norton security programs are among the top three for causing
problems with Windows Mail. The only way to prove or disprove
whether it is the culprit is to do a trial uninstall. Follow that up
with their debris removal tool:

Another solution is to upgrade to Windows Live Mail because it is
less prone to suffering bad effects from overly aggressive antivirus
programs.
In any case, your antivirus must be configured not to scan emails.
For more on this, see

Gary, Please keep in mind that email was sent out successfully. Which leads
me to think it may be a problem with Windows Mail. I also tried sending
group emails with all virus scanning off and the problem still occurs.
Also, I already called several of the recipients and all of them said they
recieved the email.

All I can tell you is that Windows Mail by itself doesn't behave in
that fashion. So something else is interfering to the extent of not
allowing it to store a copy in the "Sent Items" folder. I assume you
do have that default option enabled: Tools, Options, Send, "Save
a copy of sent messages..."

As we know from much experience here, just "turning off" the
antivirus does not necessarily stop its bad effects on Windows Mail.

Some interesting happened since last nights posting. I received three
"Delivery status notification" emails from three of the recipients. All
typing mistakes. So I decided to open Outlook 2003 and look in the "Sent
Items" folder and there was the email. So apparently Windows Mail did
send the email it just didn't display in the "Outbox". Nor did it appear
in the "Sent Items" folder.

If the message is found in the Outlook 2003 Sent Items folder then it was
sent from Outlook 2003, not from Windows Mail.

Thats my thinking as well. It seems Windows Mail used Outlook 2003's outbox
to send the email and then placed a copy of it in the Sent Items folder.

Windows Mail can't do that.

The problem is I did not use Outlook 2003 to send the email. I used Windows
Mail. I thought maybe Windows Mail was some how pointed to the location of
Outlook 2003's outbox by mistake.

Windows Mail did not use Outlook for anything.

Wrong.

If these messages are found in Outlook 2003's Sent Items folder, then you
did not use Windows Mail, you used Outlook 2003. There is no other way for
them to get to that folder; Windows Mail CANNOT access an Outlook folder,
only Outlook can access Outlook folders. You sent these with Outlook 2003,
it can be no other way.

Sorry, I used Windows Mail to send my email.

I relize that. Thats why I think there is some kind of error in Windows
Mail. It seems to be sending group emails through a different area of the
hard drive by mistake even though its not suppose to.

As I said before, it is impossible for Windows Mail to do that.
No one else has ever reported such a thing.

Everyone has all but told you that your imagination is working
overtime.

Then you have the only computer in the world that does this. Windows mail
CANNOT access an Outlook folder, period. Outlook folders are held in a
Personal Folders (.PST) file and Windows Mail CANNOT access this file. If
your mail went to Outlook's Outbox and Sent Items folders, then Outlook, NOT
Windows Mail, placed them there. Sorry, you used Outlook.
