fixed Directx 9.0c web setup on vista ... <keywords>

Had already tried this. Although I suspect, it may have well cause the
problem to begin with. Initially, the UAC permissions screen kept popping up;
I cancel eventually; which may have corrupted any following install of
DirectX 9x.

Problem has been resolved, check next message.

Same issue -- is there a resolution? Game won't run because it can't find
d3dx9_27.dll. tried to install from microsoft the new directx -- can't
install because 'A cabinet file necessary for installation cannot be
trusted. Please verify
the Cryptographic Services are enabled and the cabinet file certificate is
valid"

what now?

Termporarily turn off UAC and any AV anti malware software you have running
then try to install again. I've never had any issue updating Directx on my
Vista64 PC so it has to be due to some anti malware software you have
running. To quickly turn off UAC type msconfig into the search or run box
and then go to the tools tab. You will see there options to turn off UAC
and to turn it back on. Selct to turn it off and reboot the PC, UAC is now
disabled. After you get Directx update installed turn it back on. Or you
could try selecting to run the directx update file as administrator by
right clciking the fiule and selecting administrator. That may solve the
issue for you without turning off UAC.

The suggestion to delete everything in the system32 folder is a little
scary.

Who told you to delete everything in system32 folder? Don't do that. Try
this, boot to safe mode by restarting your PC and pressing F8 during
bootup. You will see an option there to select safe mode, choose that and
try the full directx version installer then reboot PC after it has
installed. If you want to try the web installer again instead then select5
safe mode with internet connection. Using safe mode means no drivers are in
use and the system is running in a bare minimum mode.

Do NOT delete everything in the System32 folder. There are a lot of system
files in there that will make your system unusable if they are deleted.

As the original thread isn't listed (as this is sent to the usenet group,
and I am not sure what forum you are using to post this), I don't know what
problem you are attempting to solve.

- A person before wrote that this worked.

What does he mean by deleting entries?

He means that some of the installation files got messed up, he went onto
his HD, found them, deleted them then tried to install DirectX again, and
it fixed the problem.

If you don't know what you're doing, don't do it. Take your computer to
someone who does.

That said you can try deleting your system temp files, that may help.

Right-click your C: drive icon
Choose Properties.
Click on Disk Cleanup button

Check all boxes after your HD is scanned and click OK to remove all
erronious temp files from your system (you don't need them), and try
DXWebSetup.exe again.

If that fails, call the tech support line for the game you're trying to
install. Someone will be able to walk you through troubleshooting.
