I have the same problem as everyone else and I have tried all your
suggestions including running WMUtil.exe (which the buttons don't become
active) and I'm getting really frustrated. Anymore suggestions?

The buttons become active if you read the text in Red at the site.

(A pound to a pinch of sh$t that SFC does not find this answer?)

A fix as been released by M$ to resolve the problem of undeletable mails:

"Messages may be stuck in the Outbox when you use Windows Mail on a computer
that is running Windows Vista"

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/941090

I have had the same problem and tried both solutions that Steve Cochran
suggests (including running WMUtil.exe but doesn't allow the buttons to
become active) and I am now really frustrated. Any more suggestions please?

Hi everybody. I just bought my laptop with Vista. And I have already a
problem: I can not delete messagens from OUTBOX and I can not SEND messages.

This is really annoying and looks like it is a problem which came with Vista.

What can I do?

Download and install this fix, without Windows Mail not running:

Although it's labelled as for mail stuck in the Outbox, it also works
in other folders. If you don't know whether to use the 32-bit version
or the 64-bit version, try the 32-bit version first. If you have certain
common antivirus programs, such as most of those from Norton or
McAfee, or a recent one from Trend, remember where to find the
fix as you are likely to need it again, although not immediately.

Sorry, that should be with Windows Mail not running.

Then you might get more help in a Windows 2000 newsgroup. I couldn't
find one for mail or general questions, though.

There are some for Outlook Express, though, such as:

This is blocking all messages, both new and reply messages and is therefore
urgent that I fix this. the error message is " an unknown error has
occurred".

I have Vista Basic Home edition. How would I get rid of this problem IN
VERY SIMPLE TERMS, PLEASE!!! I'm NOT computer saavy, sorry to say. I have

You may need to ask a friend more familiar with computers to help you.

immediately, so if you have such a program, remember where to find

Who is this "you" that you're addressing?
This is a peer-to-peer help group. No Microsoft employees here.

As I said earlier, the interim resolution is to use a different email program.
Free. No Geek Squad required.
