I think the virus card is overplayed. In the 22 years that I've
been using Microsoft operating systems I've only caught a virus once,
which happened under Windows 3.1 when I accidentally booted from a
floppy that had a bootsector
virus.
Use common sense, run a good anti-virus/anti-malware
program, and you'll be fine.

Most users catch viruses all the time, don't keep their AV up-to-date
and the same for any anti malware programs, even if you install them for
them and teach them how to keep them up-to-date. With Linux, that isn't
necessary.

Being a technically-minded person, I do just that. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
About once a year I give the latest flavor du jour Linux variant
a whirl. So far I've always been disappointed, and I would not
recommend the experience to a non-technical user.

Well, this confirms just how "technically-minded" you really are.

Cheers.

"Most users catch viruses all the time" - bullshit!

Please, Alias, don't make ridiculous statements to support some claim
you are making.

And quit saying Ubuntu is the answer to everything; it isn't.

People in this newsgroup are looking for information about Vista.

Go to an Unbuntu, or other Debian or Linux forum to extol the virtues of
Ubuntu.

What you do in this newsgroup is in poor taste and juvenile.

And I am posting this using Ubuntu 6.06.1 and Thunderbird.
Tomorrow I may use Microsoft Mail, since it is better than Thunderbird.

And you reached that conclusion how???

I dare say you know very little about me.

Can't figure out why anyone would not at least try Alias's advice on a
spare hardrive so that you actually know What you are talking about???

Coud you run that by me again?

A: Because it messes up the order in which people normally read text.
Q: Why is top-posting such a bad thing?
