Actually, not all of them do. There are the PC rags and such that
promote based upon advertising revenue, etc. There are maybe 2 or 3
independent testing agencies that are considered respectable by the AV
industry.

In any case, you didn't answer the question. But then again, I didn't
think you would/could.

Well...no, sorry, I really can't explain that, because so far, I have not
experienced any dismal detection rate, so I have no such track record to go
by at this point. I have no crashes, no bloating, no hogging the resources,
easy updating, very good detection, it's stable, reliable. So, I just don't
know what else to tell ya other then it works well for me.

Since you brought it up, I've been considering switching to the
Mandrake flavor of Linux. So, what's the upside and downside to it?

If all you know is windows then the downside is learning linux, but if you
stick with it and get to know it you will eventually realize that its way
ahead of windows and you can do so many things so easily with it. And
virus's essentially become a moot point. Windows is oriented towards the
"one big killer ap" concept while linux is oriented towards "lost of little
tools that can be strung together to do whatever it is you want to do"

I just bought mcafee virus scan ver.8 and i love it..what a big improvement
over 6 and 7..it works extremely well with my windows configuration..no gliches
whatsoever..It also manages viruses so much better..Worth the money in my
opinion

Yeah, I was pretty impressed with the overall loss of the bloat. More
streamlined interface, less bullshit. They have a winner.
 
Did you adjust your PC clock or bios at all That will mess up the licence
and mcafee tech can fix it if you have your reciepts. Maybe even if you
havent.post here and ask for assistance..

That assume it did come with 24mths dat file updates I had the home version
and so cannot comment re the pro version.
